Boy burned in Mineville

MINEVILLE — A teenager was burned Thursday morning while with a group of other juveniles in a wooded area in Mineville.

Police and Moriah Ambulance Squad were called to a remote section of Mountain Spring Road in Moriah’s Mineville hamlet mid-morning, when they located the 15-year-old boy with serious burns.

The youth was taken to Elizabethtown Community Hospital then airlifted to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.

“He had burns to his face and upper extremities,” she said.

His name and condition were not available, but Fleishman said more details may be released today/Friday.

She said the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the case.

No information was available on any possible charges in the incident.

Mountain Spring Road in Mineville is a gathering place for local youths and the site of several recent bonfires, although it’s unknown if that’s how the teen was injured.

Most of the road is a narrow dirt strip that connects to Stevenson Road in Westport.
