Your Town: Burke roof bids under consideration

BURKE — The Burke Town Council has solicited bids for roof replacement for the newly acquired Town Courthouse and Municipal Offices on Route 11.

At a recent meeting, six bids were received and opened as follows: Integrated Rigging and Contracting Inc., $60,513; Bub's Enterprises LLC, $52,320; Duane's Construction, $44,855; Stutzman Builders, $47, 833.33; Ross R. Biondo Construction, $48,148; and Vachon General Construction, $48,883.

The submissions were given to Town Courthouse Committee member John Carr, who has inspected the roof, to review before the council awards the job. 

Bids were also received and opened for mowing town-owned properties: Kevin Sansone of Apple Jack Landscaping, $8,300; Terry Collins of Collins Excavation, $$7,500, plus $500 for spring cleanup of debris; Kelly Bracy of JRL Contracting, $8,181 including $400 for spring cleanup.

After discussion, the contract was awarded to Collins to provide the service through Oct. 31.

In other business:

SECURITY SYSTEM: NCC Systems has submitted a quote of $8,135 for a fire/security system and $3,250.72 for a camera surveillance system to be installed.

OLD TOWN COURTHOUSE:The Burke Methodist Church has indicated it is not interested in leasing the old town hall at the present time but may be interested in purchasing it if still available this month when they have CDs maturing. Town Councilman Arnold Lobdell reported that he has contacted four salvage companies in Pennsylvania to see if there is any interest in the building. One requested pictures, while the other three said it is too far to travel.

The next Town Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the Burke Town Court House and Municipal Offices, Route 11.
