New chief operating officer tapped by Adirondack Health

SARANAC LAKE — Patti Hammond has signed on as chief operating officer for Adirondack Health.

She comes with almost 25 years of "progressive leadership experience at hospitals and health systems throughout Albany and the Capital District of New York state," a press release from Adirondack Health said.

"The decision to join Adirondack Health was an easy one, based on a solid reputation of exceptional patient care delivered by an incredibly skilled and compassionate team of individuals," Hammond said in the release.

"I look forward to building on the outstanding work of those who have committed to strengthening vital health-care services for our region, its residents and visitors."

PHYSICIAN PRACTICES

As the chief operating officer, Hammond is responsible for Adirondack Health's physician practices, which include the primary-care and specialty-care centers, such as rheumatology, cardiology and bariatrics.

She also oversees clinical departments, including physical rehabilitation, laboratory, medical imaging, cardiopulmonary and nutritional services.

Most recently, Hammond served as vice president of physician services at Ellis Medicine in Schenectady.

There for seven years, she had oversight of Ellis Medical Group, a multidisciplinary group practice of nearly 250 physicians and advanced-practice providers in the three-hospital system.

Part of her responsibility was also an 82-bed long-term-care facility, Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center.

NURSING, BUSINESS DEGREES

Hammond, with a bachelor's degree in nursing from Keuka College and master's degrees in health administration and business administration, is a Fellow in the American College of Health-Care Executives.

In 2010, she was honored with the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award.

Hammond lives in Saranac Lake, and in her free time, she and her significant other, John, enjoy cooking, outdoor exercise, traveling and skiing.

She is the mother of two sons, ages 25 and 29.
