Sentencing set for Fort Covington woman

MALONE — A Fort Covington woman who stabbed her boyfriend in the back with a knife will be sentenced on an assault charge next month in Franklin County Court.

This week, Joan Terrell, 64, pleaded guilty to Superior Court Information — rather than a formal grand-jury indictment — to second-degree assault and first-degree endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person.

Sentencing is set for May 20 before County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr.

Terrell admitted she stabbed her live-in boyfriend, Wayne Henault, 64, during an incident on July 30, 2012.

Prosecutors said emergency-medical personnel were called to 2556 Chateaugay St. about midnight for a man who reportedly had fallen out of bed.

When they arrived, they saw a small puncture wound in his back and took him to Alice Hyde Medical Center for further treatment.

Upon examination, hospital staff found Henault had been stabbed and rushed him to emergency surgery.
