75 YEARS AGO — 1937

▶ A retreat parade will be held at the Plattsburgh Barracks in celebration of the Montreal Kiwanis visit. The event is open to the public.

▶ Lake Placid's Main Street hotel, The Alford Inn, officially changes its name to the Lake Placid Inn the first of the month.

▶ Malone Resident Mrs. M. K. Bennett has left her entire estate of $30,843 to the Alice Hyde Association in memory of her late sister Mrs. Estelle Kelsey.

▶ The primary grade students of Mooers Central Rural school are performing a three act operetta titled "The Land of Dreams Come True" to benefit the Bidwell Memorial Library of Mooers. The performance is being directed by Miss Evelyn Matthews.

100 YEARS AGO — 1912

▶ The home of C.W. McLellan — one of Champlain's most historic houses, built in 1601 — sustained considerable damage in a widespread fire in village. The fire did a total of $50,000 damage to a number of houses.

▶ Plattsburgh is receiving visitors from France who have come to deliver the bronze bust of "La France" by Rodin as a memorial of the explorer Champlain. The bust will be placed at the lighthouse at Crown Point.
