Plattsburgh man charged with stalking again

He originally pleaded not guilty.

“It is very hard to talk about because it is embarrassing, but I used to masturbate in public,” he said in a statement to police after that arrest.

“I was not picking out anybody in particular; it was just an impulse I had when I was younger, like in my late teens, early 20s.

“I realized back then that I needed help, and I got counseling for it. When my son was born, that is when my life changed.”

Belvedere said that he found his past behavior “repulsive” and said he “would never do anything like that again.”

In November 2008, Belvedere was sentenced to one to three years in prison for stalking and one year for endangering the welfare of a child, with the time to run concurrently.

He was released from Gowanda Correctional Facility in Gowanda in April 2010 after serving less than two years in prison, according to state prison records.

Earlier this year, Belvedere pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a felony, and drunk driving in connection with an October 21, 2012, arrest.

Plattsburgh City Police stopped his 1999 Jeep Cherokee at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 21 near Sailly Avenue.

Belvedere was sentenced to six months in jail and five years of probation with sex-offender conditions.

His name does not appear on the New York State Sex Offender Registry.

He was also arrested for DWI in August of 2012.
