Country star to perform tonight

— MORRISONVILLE — At 25, Lorrie Morgan was the youngest performer made a lifetime member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Tonight, the country star performs at the Clinton County Fair.

Among Morgan’s hits are “Five Minutes,” “Watch Over Me” and “What Part of No.”

She has nabbed four Female Vocalist of Year awards and has performed duets with such music legends as Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis.

And she sang with her own father, country legend George Morgan, whose own iconic songs include “Candy Kisses” and “Red Roses for a Blue Lady.”

She takes the stage at 8 p.m., with tickets set at $10 for grandstand seating and $15 for track seating (plus the gate admission of $8 for ages 13 and older).

Today is Children’s Day, with free admission for ages 12 and younger. Carnival rides wristbands cost $21 each and are good all day.

Daily, visit the FFA, cattle, horse and domestic and fine arts exhibits daily; vendor buildings are open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the fair, which continues through Sunday.  Parking is free.

Here’s today’s schedule:

7 a.m.: All 4-H horses in place.

9 a.m.: 4-H Dairy Cattle Show in the Denton Publications Cattle Barn.

10 a.m.: 4-H English classes in the PrimeLink Horse Arena (costume class is 30 minutes after the last English class; small-animal and FAA-exhibit judging in the Duprey’s Feeds & McCadam Cheese Co. Inc. FFA Building.

Noon: Carnival rides, start; New York State Sire Stakes harness race on the Graymont Materials NY Race Track (free admission).

Noon to 9 p.m.: 4-H Dairy Bar open.

Noon to 3 p.m.: Damaged Goods band on the Sample Lumber Co. LLC Stage.

1, 4 and 7:30 p.m.: Chainsaw sculptor Mark Tyoe, sponsored by Tammy Perrotte Sears of RE/MAX North Country.

1:30, 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.: Animal Alley Productions, sponsored by Palmer Veterinary Clinic.

2, 4 and 7 p.m.: Pipsqueaks Party Time Clown Show, sponsored by Price Chopper on the Children’s Stage.

2, 5 and 7 p.m.: Buffalo Barfield’s Unherd-of-Entertainment (family show), sponsored by National Bath Systems LLC.

2:30 to 4:30 p.m.: 4-H public presentations in the 4-H Building.

4 to 7 p.m.: Tunes of Time at the Stewart’s Shop Gazebo.

6 p.m.: Coin Hunt in the Sawdust Pile, sponsored by UFirst Federal Credit Union, GP Community Federal Credit Union, Dannemora Federal Credit Union, TD Bank and Peru Federal Credit Union ($100 added each day).

7 p.m.: 4-H mounted games in the PrimeLink Horse Arena (or one hour after last English class).

7:30 p.m.: Master hypnotist Michael Blaine, sponsored by North Country Auto Glass & Trim Shop, Adirondack Energy, Adirondack Waste Solutions and 102.3 MIX FM at the Sample Lumber Co. LLC Stage; North Country’s Got Talent qualifying round at the Talent Stage. Qualifiers go on to the Friday Night Semi-Final Show, sponsored by Pepsi, 97.5 Eagle Country Radio, Kneucraft Fine Jewelry, Cumberland 12 Cinemas, Adirondack Tobacco-Free Network and Reithoffer Shows Inc. No Bands Allowed.

8 p.m.: Lorrie Morgan, sponsored by Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, Riley Ford, Key R-D Trailer Sales, 97.5 Eagle Country, TD Bank, D.S. Specialties Inc., Sample Lumber Co. LLC & WIRY Hometown Radio, on the Casella Waste Management Stage at the Plattsburgh Live Grandstand.

9 to 11 p.m.: Just Us band at the Stewart’s Shop Gazebo.
