ALBANY — Republican candidates Thomas Nolan and Stan Pritzker beat Democrat Mark Powers to win election to the New York State Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Nolan earned 8,443 votes in Clinton County, 4,326 votes in Franklin County and 4,572 votes in Essex County on his way to a statewide total of 105,487.

Pritzker garnered 7,474 votes in Clinton County, 3,631 votes in Franklin County and 4,233 votes in Essex County; his statewide total was 92,316.

Powers brought in 7,463 votes in Clinton County, 3,703 in Franklin County and 3,063 votes in Essex County and ended with a statewide total of 69,879.

The position is a 14-year term.

Nolan will retain his seat as a judge of the Fourth Judicial District, which serves Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, St. Lawrence, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington counties.

Pritzker will fill the vacancy that will be left later this year by the retirement of Thomas Mercure.
