Volunteers sought to load Mission of Hope containers

PLATTSBURGH — North Country Mission of Hope needs help to load two 40-foot shipping containers on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at its facility on Sharron Avenue.

“We’ve been backlogged at our storage site with a significant amount of key medical and dental equipment (along with other items),” said mission Executive Director Sister Debbie Blow in a newsletter, “and we have no more storage space.”

The containers will be shipped to Nicaragua, where Mission of Hope helps the poor.

The first will be loaded at 10 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m.

“One of the key tasks will be to load/ship all the (recently donated) Cedar Hedge Nursing Home medical equipment,” Blow said. “We also have donated school desks for schools in Nicaragua who simply do not have desks or chairs at all!”

Volunteers need to sign up in writing so teams can be organized ahead of time.
