Great Adirondack Soup Company closed

PLATTSBURGH — The Great Adirondack Soup Company has closed.

A message left on the restaurant’s Facebook page on Aug. 11 reads, “Thank you for 10 wonderful years in downtown Plattsburgh. We have closed the restaurant and bid you all a fond farewell as we set out toward new adventures.”

Efforts to reach owners Chris and Laura Dominianni were unsuccessful. The phones at the restaurant and at their home have been disconnected.

The Great Adirondack Soup Company opened on Clinton Street in 2003. The Dominiannis moved it to 24 Oak St. in 2005.

Chris Dominianni served as president of the Plattsburgh Downtown Association from 2005 to 2008. Laura Dominianni has attended meetings of the recently reorganized group, now called the Downtown Business Visitors Association.

They had recently reintroduced a dinner menu served Wednesday through Friday with wine and beer available.

  • Stepping forward: The real Colbert

Letterman changed the late-night TV game between his run on NBC's "Late Night" and starting the "Late Show" franchise in 1993. And while it's tough to replace a pop-culture icon, Colbert, in terms of pedigree and sense of humor, makes the most sense.
