Tupper Lake man faces sex charge

TUPPER LAKE — A Tupper Lake man faces a felony charge of first-degree sexual abuse.

Jerod Schaffer, 30, was arrested Friday morning. In addition to the felony, he was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Tupper Lake Police said the alleged victim gave a statement at the police station, as did Schaffer.

Schaffer was arraigned before Village Justice Leonard F. Young II, who set bail at $7,500 cash and $15,000 bond.

He was taken to Franklin County Jail, where he remained on Friday afternoon.

He is due back in Village Court on Sept. 16.
