ATM larceny suspect caught in Louisiana

(Continued)

The two managed to remove the ATM and take it out of the bookstore, police said.

Three days later, on Nov. 20, police said, Crandall confessed his and Lugo’s involvement in both larcenies to Canton Village Police and the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force during an interview about two unrelated investigations involving marijuana.

RECOVERED $17,600

Crandall led the two agencies to the stolen ATM machine, which was hidden at a residence on Sykes Road in Canton, authorities said.

Police said they also uncovered $17,600 that they say the two men had extracted from the automated machine and the blow torch and crowbar that were used in both crimes.

Crandall also reportedly provided them with a written statement detailing the crimes.

He was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree grand larceny of property valued at more than $1,000, both felonies.

Crandall was arraigned in North Elba Town Court and released under the supervision of a probation officer.

His case is pending in court, police said.
