Smith was incarcerated in County Jail Wednesday without bail.
Additional arrests were pending in connection with this investigation, according to a New York State Police Troop B press release. Arraignments will be held at a later date.
Essex County District Attorney Kristy Sprague could not be reached Wednesday for more information on the busts.
Also recently arrested in the North Country on felony drug charges was a Schenectady man.
Kris Wynn, 30, was arrested on the Northway Tuesday and charged with possession of heroin, said Plattsburgh City Police Lt. Scott Beebie.
“It was an ongoing investigation over several weeks” by the Adirondack Drug Task Force, Beebie said.
Wynn was a passenger in a vehicle halted in a traffic stop on Interstate 87 north near Plattsburgh Tuesday, Beebie said.
A search warrant for the vehicle was obtained, and a State Police drug dog was used to find 109 individual packets of heroin that were wrapped for resale, Beebie said.
The approximate street value of the heroin is $5,500, he said.
Wynn was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
He was arraigned in the Plattsburgh Town Court on Wednesday and taken to Clinton County Jail without bail.
“There is still an active investigation in his (Wynn’s) activity,” Beebie said.
State Police said further charges are pending.
The Essex County Drug Task Force comprises members from the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, New York State Police, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Ticonderoga Police Department and Lake Placid Police Department.
