The expanded commercial kitchen will also allow the business to expand its catering offerings, which range from custom platters and office luncheons to elegant weddings. Customers can also special order take-home meals.
While the store’s shelves are stocked with a wide array of natural and organic grocery, produce and a full bulk-foods section, they also carry natural supplements, body-care items, household cleaning products, recycled paper products, pet foods, loose teas, organic coffee beans and more.
The owners and staff take great effort to research the products they carry to ensure quality ingredients and local or fair-trade products whenever possible.
“Our goal is to provide the healthiest foods possible for our customers,” Reese said. “We take the guesswork and label-reading out of the equation. Our customers can trust us to stay on top of product research so they don’t have to.”
Additionally, they carry a wide variety of specialty food for both allergy and food limitations such as gluten-free, vegan and more. All the staff is trained and knowledgeable when it comes to shopping advice and wellness tips.
For additional guidance with regard to nutritional choices, Reese holds a bachelor’s degree in holistic nutrition and offers nutritional counseling services through the store.
Some of the local foods include breads, dairy, meat and eggs, pasta, sauces, jams, crafts and soaps. Current local produce includes garlic, celery, beets, carrots and potatoes. For meats, there is beef, bison, pork, lamb, chicken and turkey. Looking toward the growing season, the vast majority of the produce that Green Goddess carries is from local farms.
A grand-opening celebration is planned for Feb. 16 and 17 with store-wide promotions, tastings and entertainment.
