---- — Rouses Point to pick up Christmas trees

ROUSES POINT — The Village of Rouses Point will be picking up Christmas trees now through Jan. 11.

Residents are being asked to place trees in front of their property. This will be the only pickup of Christmas trees in the village.

Elizabethtown assessment board seeks member

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Town of Elizabethtown has a position opening on the Board of Assessment Review.

Interested Elizabethtown residents should contact Supervisor Margaret Bartley at 873-6555 or send a letter of interest to PO Box 265, Elizabethtown, NY 12932.

Members sought for super-search committee

SARANAC — Saranac Central School District is looking for community members to assist in interviews for the next superintendent of schools. 

Slots are available for three individuals who can attend a meeting at 6 p.m. March 20 to develop interview questions and attend interviews during the week of April 22.

Longtime Superintendent Ken Cringle will retire at the end of the school year. 

Selection of participants will be made on a lottery basis. Interested parties should contact Linda Tedford at 565-5612, or email her at by Friday, Jan. 11.

Decoration contest winners named

CHAMPLAIN — Simonne Monette at 33 Ashline Drive won Best Overall Display award in the Village of Champlain Holiday Decorating Contest.

Edward Hicks’s decorations at 1 Maple St. won for Best Daytime Display.

Best Nighttime Display goes to John Rowe for his home at 45 Oak St.

In a press release, the Village Board congratulated the winners and thanked them “for their efforts in making our village a more beautiful place to live. Great job.”
