Discovery Channel show features 2005 area murders

By Joe LoTemplio

---- — PLATTSBURGH — An in-depth look at the 2005 murders of Schuyler Falls business owners David and Lorraine Donivan will be aired on the Investigation Discovery network on Sunday night.

The hour-long show, to air at 9 p.m., is entitled “Sins and Secrets Plattsburgh.”

A description of the show on the network’s website says: “In 2005, the sleepy upstate town of Plattsburgh, New York, was gripped in terror when mom-and-pop-furniture-store owners David and Lorraine Donivan were found brutally stabbed to death.”

The show features interviews with family and friends of the Donivans, law-enforcement officials who worked on the case and members of the local media who covered it.

The couple owned the House of Pine and Oak in Schuyler Falls and also lived on the property. Relatives raised the alarm in late December 2005 when the Donivans couldn’t be reached.

Edward Dashnaw was found guilty of the murders in 2007, but the courts ordered a new trial after he appealed.

In the retrial in 2011, the Plattsburgh man was found guilty again and remains in state prison under a life sentence.

The show will air on Investigation Discovery, which is part of the family of Discovery Channel networks, and can be found on channel 303 on Charter Cable systems, channel 285 on DirectTV, channel 192 on Dish Network and channel 124 on Time Warner Cable.
