Community Calendar: April 12, 2013

The Press-Republican events calendar appears every Friday. Be sure submissions reach the Press-Republican newsroom at least one week before the calendar in which they need to appear. 

Items should be brief, listing the time, date, place, prices, a contact number and any other essential information.

All items in the calendar must be open to the public.

EVERYTHING LISTED IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Some events require pre-registration or reservations, so make sure to look for those details.

EVENTS

TODAY 

Third-annual Mudder Whine & Cheese Party. 6 to 9 p.m. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1466, Spellman Road, Beekmantown. $5 per person. Hors d’oueuvres, dessert, cash bar. Bring an unwrapped item for the “Mudpile,” similar to a Yankee swap. Proceeds benefit the Champlain Valley Morgan Horse Association Scholarship Fund for local high-school graduates. Parent’s Night Out. 6 to 8 p.m. Turnpike Wesleyan Church, 2224 Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh. Theme is “Game Night.”

Spring Fashion Show. 6 to 8 p.m. Center court (JCPenney), Champlain Centre mall, Plattsburgh. Music from DJ Watty, summer styles from participating merchants, taste-test new items from Lakeshore Candy and Auntie Anne’s, raffle and prizes.

SAT., APRIL 13

Second Saturday Storytime. 10 a.m. The Bookstore Plus, 2491 Main St., Lake Placid. Celebration of tea parties with stories and a party. 

Relay for Life Garage Sale. 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our Lady of Victory Center (former elementary school behind church), 4949 South Catherine St., Plattsburgh. 

Kids Night Out. 5:30 to 9 p.m. Memorial Hall gymnasium, SUNY Plattsburgh. Activities for children ages 5 through 13, including sports, games, movies, arts and crafts, swimming. $10 per child. Call Cheryl Cole, 564-4147.
