Hydrant flushing set in Champlain

CHAMPLAIN — The Village of Champlain will be flushing hydrants Monday, Oct. 15, through Friday, Oct. 19.

The hours of flushing are between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some discoloration can be expected.

The flushing includes the Landfill Water District and the Ridge Road Water District.

Memorial planned for local luminary John Flanzer

PLATTSBURGH — A celebration of the life of former Morrisonville resident John Flanzer will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Newman Center, 90 Broad St.

Flanzer was the former programming director and an acting president of Mountain Lake PBS and later worked in NBT Bank’s Trust and Investment Division.

He served on a number of boards in the North Country, including Mercy Care for the Adirondacks, Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York, Northern New York Center and Clinton County Mental Health Association and was instrumental in their merger into Behavioral Health Services North.

The event is open to all.
