Cautionary boil-water order in place for Moriah water districts

MORIAH CENTER — A boil-water order is in place for Moriah water districts 1 and 4 as a precaution.

About 400 feet of water main was scheduled for replacement overnight Friday into today as part of the construction of a new bridge over Mill Brook.

Water service was expected to be disrupted for about four hours, starting at about midnight tonight and lasting between four and eight hours, and there was a chance that temporary low pressure in the system could cause contamination to enter the system, according to the Essex County Health Department.

Users are ordered to boil all water for drinking and cooking until the order is lifted. Use boiled or bottled water for making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation, the release said.
