Deer dives into car

ELLENBURG — A motorist and teen passenger escaped with minor injuries after a deer leaped into their moving car.

John A. Perry, 61, of Chateaugay was driving northeast on State Route 374 at about 4:45 p.m. last Thursday when the deer jumped through the rear side passenger window, landing on a 16-year-old who was riding in the backseat behind the driver.

The animal floundered around in the vehicle then escaped through the same window, according to a press release from State Police.

Perry and his passenger were taken by ambulance to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, where they were treated for minor injuries.

The deer did not survive the bizarre incident, police said.
