Polar Plungeto aid Special Olympics again
PLATTSBURGH — Dates have been set for Polar Plunge fundraisers for Special Olympics New York.
The fourth-annual Plattsburgh Polar Plunge at the City Beach is set for Saturday, Nov. 16, with check-in at 10 a.m. and the plunge into the frigid waters of Lake Champlain at noon.
The fifth-annual St. Lawrence Seaway Polar Plunge is at Hawkins Point Visitor’s Center in Massena at the same times.
Plungers raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics New York by asking family, friends, coworkers and others to contribute to the fundraiser, and in return, the plunger takes a dip or slow crawl in the water.
Every plunger who raises $100 receives an official Plunge sweatshirt.
“The more money that’s raised, the better the prizes get,” a press release said.
Among the sponsors already signed on are Ambit Energy, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 999, Eagle Country, Dunkin’ Donuts, Pepsi of Keeseville, Cedar View Golf Course and the Plattsburgh Noon Kiwanis Club.
To register, go to www.polarplungeny.org. For more information, contact Erin McCartan at 388-0790, Ext. 107, or email@example.com.
The projected goal for the 2013-2014 Plunge Series is more than $1 million.
