Drug indictments and arrest sweep nabs 10

PLATTSBURGH -- Local authorities fanned out across the area this week and took nearly a dozen alleged drug dealers into custody.

A Clinton County grand jury recently handed up indictments against 10 accused dealers, and members of the Adirondack Drug Task Force took most of them into custody Monday night.

Some of the accused were already behind bars and joined the others for arraignment on the indictments Tuesday before Judge Kevin Ryan.

Plattsburgh City Police Lt. Pat Rascoe said the indictments stem from the alleged local possession and sales of heroin, crack, powder cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms, marijuana and prescription pills.

Authorities said no drugs or weapons were seized during the sweep.

All but one person remained in custody Tuesday evening, unable to post bail or bond. They are all due back in court in late January to face the charges.

Officials said the indictments could leave the alleged dealers facing lengthy stints in prison.

Those arrested and their charges are:

Cassy L. Ciccone, 31, of Plattsburgh: four counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance on or near a school ground.

Eric A. Paccione, 24, of Brasher Falls: first-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Reginald S. Defoe, 50, of Plattsburgh: fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Jonathan T. Dawley, 21, of Plattsburgh: two counts of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Heather Edson, 26, of Clinton County: three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Jason L. Glenn, 38, of Troy: third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
