Chateaugay prison spared

Jones expressed the legislature’s thanks to Little and Duprey for their efforts in saving the prison, which was built in 1990 and employs more than 110 people.

Chateaugay was established as a drug- and substance-abuse treatment center, but its mission was changed a few years ago; it is now a site for parole violators to serve their sentences.

The state budget bill is in its final form and could be voted on Saturday.
