12-year-old charged with sex abuse

SCHUYLER FALLS — A 12-year-old was charged Thursday with sexually abusing two 6-year-olds.

The gender of the perpetrator and the victims cannot be released due to the sensitive nature of the case, said Plattsburgh-based State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Investigator Scott Hite.

The crimes occurred in the summer of 2012 in the Town of Schuyler Falls and were reported through the State Child Abuse Hotline, Hite said.

The 12-year-old suspect is charged with two counts of felony first-degree criminal sex act, which means the victim is younger than 11.

The case will be handled in Family Court, Hite said.
