Hockert chosen as Wilmington Citizen of Year

WILMINGTON — Robert Hockert will be honored as Wilmington Citizen of the Year.

He represents the community on the ROOST Board of Directors and has been involved in many Wilmington projects.

“Bob has been volunteering for many community events in the 10-plus years he has lived here,” his nomination form said, in part. “He has done movies at the beach, served on the Waterfront Revitalization Committee, Destination Master Plan, Bike Fest chairman, which is hundreds of hours. He has served every year on the Wilmington Christmas Celebration committee.”

He will be honored at the 28th-annual Wilmington Community Dinner, to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Hungry Trout Restaurant in Wilmington. Tickets are $20.

No St. Mary’s Bingo today

CHAMPLAIN — There is no bingo scheduled today at St. Mary’s Academy in Champlain. The church will announce a bingo schedule at a later date.
