CHAMPLAIN — The Town of Champlain Planning Board session scheduled for today has been canceled.
Half Marathon, Race for Stace on agenda
PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Common Council will take action on several items at tonight’s meeting.
Among them are requests from Stephanie Desautels and Jen Boyer to hold the Plattsburgh Half Marathon on April 27, 2014, and the Race for Stace on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
The meeting begins with a work session at 5 p.m., followed by the regular session at 5:30.
Both are open to the public.
Agenda planned for Franklin County meeting today
MALONE — Franklin County legislators will hear an economic-development and planning report from Cornell Cooperative Extension at their regular meeting today.
Extension Director Rick LeVitre will make the presentation at 10 a.m.
But first, the Finance Committee will meet at 9 a.m., followed at 9:30 a.m. by Department of Social Services Commissioner Lesley Lyon, who has staffing requests.
At 10:30 a.m., the Economic Development and Planning Committee will hear from Joe Mecurio talk about the Rails for Trails initiative, and at 11 a.m., Douglas Brownell will meet with the Public Safety Committee about water levels on Lake Flower and more.
The call to order is set for 11:30 a.m., and a full-board work session will be held at 1 p.m. All meetings are open to the public and held in the fourth-floor Legislative Chambers in the County Courthouse.
Hydrants being flushed in city’s South End
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh City Fire Department will continue flushing hydrants today.
The streets affected, sometime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., will be Flynn Avenue, South Peru Street, South Acres Road, Mildred Boulevard, Sharron Avenue, U.S. Avenue, McKinley Avenue and Peru Street.
Water in the system will be stirred up and may be cloudy or rust colored coming out of the faucet during the flushing. Residents are urged to avoid washing clothes or bathing during that time.
