---- — Dannemora water, sewer bills due Nov. 1

DANNEMORA — The clerk-treasurer wishes to remind all taxpayers that the last day to pay the first installment on the water and sewer rent bills without penalty is Nov. 1, 2013.

Any payments postmarked after that date will be assessed a 5 percent penalty and an additional 1 percent each month thereafter.

The last day to pay Village Tax bills that were sent in June is Oct. 31, 2013. After that date, all unpaid bills will be re-levied to the Clinton County Treasurer.

Plattsburgh City Council sets budget meeting

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Common Council will hold a budget meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 41 City Hall Place.

The session is open to the public.

The Common Council’s Records Committee meeting set for Thursday, Oct. 31, has been canceled.

E’town Zoning Board seeks new alternate

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown Town Zoning Board of Appeals has a vacancy for an alternate member. 

Applicants must be residents of Elizabethtown and at least 18 years of age. No previous governmental experience is required. The main prerequisite is a willingness to serve, learn and and be open minded.

First Forum to feature State Supreme Court justices

PLATTSBURGH — The League of Women Voters will host Supreme Court Justices Christine Clark and Joseph Sise at the November First Forum, set for Friday, Nov. 1, at American Legion Post 20 on Quarry Road, Plattsburgh. 

The luncheon meeting will begin at noon, and reservations are necessary by noon Tuesday, Oct. 29. Call Carol Solari-Ruscoe at 534-3484. Cost for the luncheon, including full meal, beverage and dessert is $13.

Peru School Board seeks candidates for vacancy

PERU — A member of the Peru Central School Board has resigned, and the board would like to hear from district residents willing to fill the vacancy. 

The board intends to appoint a new member at the meeting set for Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The appointment will expire on May 21, 2014. 

Those interested are asked to submit their name and contact information to Peru Central School District Clerk, PO Box 68, Peru, NY 12972 no later than 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4. Candidates should provide a written statement of interest of no more than 150 words.

Farm funding applications extended

PLATTSBURGH — The New York Natural Resources Conservation Service has extended its application deadline for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program to Nov. 15.

The original deadline passed in the midst of the federal shutdown, when local offices that accepted the applications were closed.

Applications accepted after Nov. 15 may be considered for funding if additional application rounds are announced or for potential consideration in 2015, a press release said.
