Women in the Outdoors marks second year

MORRISONVILLE — The second-annual Women in the Outdoors event gave participants a chance to try some Dutch oven cooking and to make crafts using outdoor materials.

The free event last weekend provided lunch, too.

Women in the Outdoors is sponsored by the Lake Champlain Turkey Talkers, the local division of the Women in the Outdoors program.

That group is part of the National Wild Turkey Federation, which aims to provide outdoor educational opportunities for women, encourage conservation of the wild turkey and hunting heritage.

FYI...
  • Why do wolves howl?

Of all the myths that dog the wolf, none is more widely accepted than the idea that wolves howl at the moon. Images of wolves with their heads upturned, singing at the night sky, are as unquestioned as a goldfish's three-second memory or a dog's color-blindness (both also myths).
