SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Lake Village Police arrested Wesley R. Strack early Thursday on several felony charges.
A warrant for his arrest was included as part of a roundup on Aug. 28, but Strack, 30, had left the area at the time, according to Saranac Lake Officer Casey Reardon.
“He was supposed to be included in that sweep,” Reardon said. “We had several people call and tell us he was in Colorado.”
Strack, 30, contacted the Franklin County District Attorney’s office via an attorney, Reardon said on Thursday.
He was told to turn himself in or local authorities would go to Colorado to make the arrest.
Strack did return to the Saranac Lake area, but some time passed and he didn’t show up at the Police Station, Chief Bruce Nason said
“... So we went and picked him up,” Reardon said. “He was very cooperative though.”
‘SOLD TO INFORMANT’
Strack allegedly sold cocaine and suboxone — a drug used to treat opiate addiction — to a Saranac Lake Police informant on two separate occasions, according to police records.
He was also wanted for violating a condition of release by Franklin County Court related to a previous arrest.
Strack faces numerous felony drug charges in connection with the alleged drug sales: third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (cocaine); fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (suboxone); third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; and two counts of fourth-degree conspiracy.
Reardon said conspiracy is a charge brought anytime someone conspires with another person to commit a felony.
Strack was on conditional release for a prior offense, an alleged felony burglary last year.
He was taken into custody, police said, on warrants from Franklin County Court and Saranac Lake Village Court. He was processed, arraigned in Saranac Lake Village Court and taken to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bail bond.
