Drug pleas net probation

---- — AKWESASNE — Two people arrested in a December drug sweep were sentenced to probation this week in Franklin County Court.

Owen Swamp, 36, and Crystal Cook, 35, both of Hogansburg, each pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, before County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr.

They were among 12 people charged in separate cases following investigations by the Franklin County Narcotics and Border Task Force.

Swamp was indicted by a grand jury for third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.

He was sentenced to five years of probation, with the first six months on electronic-home monitoring. His driver’s license was suspended, and he was ordered to pay $120 in restitution.

Cook was indicted for third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

She was ordered to serve five years of probation, with the first three months in County Jail, and her license was suspended.
