Three local students who attend St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt., are studying abroad for the spring semester. Their names, country of study and college majors are Rhea Breyette, daughter of Rhonda Dergham of Plattsburgh and Richard Breyette of Morrisonville, Dunedin, New Zealand, junior in biology; Cara Chapman, daughter of Jeffrey and Stacie Chapman of Plattsburgh, San Jose, Costa Rica, junior in media studies; and Hillary Miller, daughter of George and Sandra Miller of Plattsburgh, Brazil, Vietnam and South Africa, junior in biology.
Rachel Covey of Peru was part of a student-faculty team that worked together on a project entitled “Evolution of Images” at Pomfret School in Connecticut. Students and faculty spent their time in the community tackling one of 29 innovative projects, among them designing and building a footbridge, conducting statistical and laboratory analyses on the economic and nutritional value of organic produce and trying to make sense of the Middle East, the environment, hip-hop music and the practicality of dams.
Several local students have been named to the President’s List at Hudson Valley Community College, Troy: Rachel Lopez of Constable, Jamie Poirier of Moriah, Thomas Callahan of Moriah Center, Taylor Goodspeed of Newcomb, Geoffrey Halevan of Peru, Glenn Miller of Peru, James Rock of Peru, Sean Dermody of Plattsburgh, Elizabeth LaPointe of Plattsburgh, Mitchell Maggy of Plattsburgh, Ashley Marlow of Plattsburgh, Meghan King of Port Henry and Travis Nephew of Witherbee.
Tracey Ducharme has been inducted into the Alpha Pi Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Clinton Community College where she studies business. She is married to Edmund Ducharme of West Chazy.
