PLATTSBURGH — A new Friends of Saranac River Trail Inc. group has been formed.
It will hold its first meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in the community room at City Hall.
The agenda includes a discussion about Phase 2 of the Saranac River Trail, which was recently funded with $1.6 million from New York state, and an update on the Max Moore Memorial Treehouse project.
There will also be an open discussion of plans for National Trails Day on Saturday, June 7.
The meeting is open to the public.
The feasibility study for Saranac River Trail proposed a “public-private-nonprofit organization to advocate for the project and keep the Saranac River Trail Advisory Committee and other agencies involved in advancing the project” informed.
“It’s taken a while, but Friends of Saranac River Trail Inc. was chartered as that nonprofit corporation by New York state in February 2014,” according to a news release sent by the group’s president, Jesse Feiler.
“It will carry on the work of the informal Saranac River Trail Advisory Committee.”
The other officers for Friends of Saranac River Trail are Vice President and Treasurer Joanne Knowlton and Secretary Ashley Cousens.
Ex-officio officers are Kevin Farrington and Keith Tyo.
