Town Council sets meeting

MALONE — Malone Town Council will hold its reorganizational meeting for 2014 at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with the swearing-in of council members and staff appointments.

The meeting will be held at Malone Dufort Airport, and the public may attend.

Oaths will be administered to Supervisor Howard Maneely and Council members Mary Scharf and Jack Sullivan then appointments will be made for town attorney, deputy supervisor, budget officer/secretary//bookkeeper, town clerk, code-enforcement officer, airport manager and more.

Members will also adopt a salary schedule for employees: supervisor, $13,750; four council members, $5,500 each; two town justices, $34,000 each; highway superintendent, $40,000; secretary/bookkeeper/budget officer, $45,936; assessor, $40,536; data collector, $22,136; town clerk/registrar/tax receiver, $40,936; deputy town clerk, $23,850; Highway Department clerk/airport manager, $42,248; senior court clerk, $28,436; court clerk, $22,436; fire- and building-code officer, $33,592; town attorney, $16,000.

School Board meets tonight

LAKE PLACID — Lake Placid Central School Board will meet at 6 tonight at the Board of Education conference room at the Administrative Services Center, 50 Cummings Road, Lake Placid.

Agenda items include a new pilot program for accepting international students starting this month, with tuition rates to be set in the future.

The board will also discuss special-educational placements, a Strategic Planning Advisory Group report and a superintendent’s report.
