Peter Forrence of Peru has joined the Board of Trustees of Paul Smith’s College. Forrence is co-owner and head of sales, marketing and storage at Forrence Orchards, an 1,100-acre farm in Peru that has been honored by the New York State Agricultural Society for its century-long history. The fourth-generation family farm specializes in McIntosh, Honeycrisp and Cortland apples. Previously, Forrence had been a vice president at Goldman Sachs. He is married with two children. Forrence’s appointment to the board was effective in May.
The North Country Chamber of Commerce has elected its Board of Directors officers for 2014. Kim Murray of Champlain Valley Electric Supply Co. was chosen chair; David Bray of Imperial Industrial Park was elected first vice chair; Ed Martin of Schluter Systems was picked as second vice chair; Terry Beyer of Mold-Rite Plastics was elected treasurer; and Vicki Demarse Giroux of LaQuinta Inn and Suites was elected past chair. The chamber also named its executive committee chairs: Bray as Executive Committee chair, Greg MacConnell of Prime Link as Government Affairs chair, James Tooley of Nova Bus as Industrial Council chair, Martin as Organizational Development chair, Shannon Rulfs of Rulfs Orchard and Demarse Giroux as Visitors Bureau co-chairs, Beyer as finance chair, and Stephens Mundy of CVPH Medical Center will fill an at-large position.
