Registration is required. Chamber members are free. There is a $10 fee for non-members.

A Start Your Own Business Workshop will be held Tuesday, April 8, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. It will be presented by the Development Center. Refreshments are sponsored by the Hot Biscuit Diner.

This workshop is designed to provide information needed to decide if small business ownership is for you. Come learn the basics of how to test the feasibility of your business idea and identify key factors that influence start-up success. Free one-on-one counseling with a business adviser is available as part of the workshop follow-up process.

Topics discussed will include Review of Legal Business Entities, Writing a Business Plan, Legal and Tax Requirements, Record Keeping and Financing Options Available for New Businesses.

Zumba party

PLATTSBURGH — A Zumba Party is taking place in center court in front of JCPenney on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Champlain Centre Mall.

The first party starts at noon and the second at 2 p.m. Each Zumba session will be led by licensed Zumba instructors. 

“This is another great community event that we look forward to hosting at the mall,” said Marketing Director Courtney Coryea. “This is an event that gets folks active and most of all is fun for the whole family.”

The Zumba sessions are free and all are invited to attend for one or both sessions. Free Zumba classes, Zumba Apparel and other great prizes will also be given away.

The series of events called Snowball was created to celebrate winter in the North Country throughout the month of February. There will be free to low-cost social, recreational, cultural and educational events every day of the month.
