SAT., DEC. 28

Holiday Festival On Ice. 7:30 p.m. Olympic Center, Lake Placid. Tickets start at $25. Call the Lake Placid Olympic Center box office at 523-3330 or visit and select “Tickets” then “Events.”

Polar Bear Plunge. 1 p.m. Long Lake Town Beach. Bring towels, robes and warm clothes. Plungers and teams will raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. Register at the Adirondack Hotel at 10 a.m. Call 624-3077 for details.

TUES., DEC. 31

New Year’s Eve Party And Dinner. 6 p.m. cocktails; 7:30 p.m., dinner. Peru Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars, 710 Pleasant St., Route 22B. Includes prime-rib dinner, dancing and party favors. Couple, $40; $25, individual. Buy tickets at VFW or call 643-2309.

“1st First Tracks.” Titus Mountain, 215 Johnson Road, Malone. Torchlight Parade followed by fireworks at midnight.

First Weekends in Downtown Plattsburgh. 5 to 8 p.m. Lowell Wurster of Lucid guest bartender at Champlain Wine Co. Net profits and tips donated to First Weekends, a group to foster cultural renaissance in downtown.
