Sherman Free Library closures set
PORT HENRY — The Sherman Free Library in Port Henry will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Dec. 26, and will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27.
The library will also be closed on New Year’s Day.
CHAZY — The Chazy Town Offices will be closing at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and will not be re-opening until Monday, Dec. 30.
The office will be also closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, and re-open on Thursday, Jan. 2.
PLATTSBURGH — Town of Plattsburgh Offices will be closing at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
The offices will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 for the holidays.
ELIZABETHTOWN — The winners of the 2013 Arthur G. Hooper Holiday Decorating Contest sponsored by the Elizabethtown Social Center have been chosen.
In Elizabethtown/New Russia, Bill and Wendy Doherty of Park Street won the Spirit of Christmas award; Matt and Susie Drew’s decorations at Noble Terrace were Most Beautiful; and Kevin and Casey Martin on Brainard’s Forge Road won in the Most Original category.
In Lewis, Isabelle and Eugene Cassavaugh of Hulbert Road won the Spirit of Christmas award; Amy Chapuk’s decorations on Route 9 were Most Beautiful; and Kevin and Mary Jacques of Wells Hill Road won in the Most Original category.
Honorable Mentions go to Kenny and Chris Whittemore of Route 9, TJ and Amanda Pulsifer of Muzzy Road and Wanda and Steve Duso on Route 9.
“The judges had an especially hard time selecting winners in Lewis this year,” a press release said.
“Many homes were decorated very nicely and the Social Center highly recommends a drive-through.”
The winners will have their names engraved on a permanent plaque that hangs in the Social Center.
AUSABLE FORKS — A free Christmas dinner will be held noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 25 at the AuSable Forks Fire Department.
The meal is sponsored by Friends of the Community and is free and open to the public.
If you are going to be alone, don’t want to cook, clean up or have a lot of leftovers, please plan to join us,” organizers said in a news release.
“We promise you a wonderful meal, warm atmosphere and a lot of fun and fellowship.”

Town of Champlain moves Planning Board session
CHAMPLAIN — The Champlain Planning Board meeting scheduled for Jan. 2 has been changed to Thursday, Jan. 9, at 5:30 p.m.
It will be held at the Champlain Town Office Building, 729 Route 9, Champlain.
Planning Board meetings are open to the public.
