Man burned in fuel-oil explosion in North Hudson

NORTH HUDSON — Authorities say a man was burned Friday in an explosion involving a home-delivery fuel oil truck.

His name was not available Friday.

A Mountain Petroleum truck broke down on Greenough Road in North Hudson, and two men were transferring the fuel oil from that vehicle to another one when the explosion occurred, said North Hudson Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brian Caza.

The other man did not require transport to a hospital, he said.

Firefighters from Schroon Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to a location on Frontier Town Road in North Hudson to help provide assistance to the pilot of the helicopter as the aircraft was landed in order to take the injured man to a hospital, said Schroon Lake Fire Chief Rodney Secor.

Caza said the incident was under investigation by State Police and Essex County fire investigators.

No further information was available on Friday night.
