Ticonderoga Rite Aid robbed

---- — TICONDEROGA — An armed holdup at the Ticonderoga Rite Aid Pharmacy Thursday night netted the robber a supply of narcotics.

A male suspect entered the store at about 6:11 p.m., and handed an employee a note demanding prescription pain medication.

The note implied the man was armed with a handgun but no weapon was actually presented, Ticonderoga Town Police said in a statement.

He soon fled the pharmacy, located at the Peeble’s Department Store plaza near the intersection of Routes 22, 9N and 74, on foot before heading north with an unspecified quantity of pills.

Police said the suspect fled into farm fields between Aaron’s Rental Store and Treadway’s Car Wash.

He is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall weighing approximately 180 pounds with an unshaven appearance.

The suspect was last spotted wearing a brown Carhartt jacket over a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a black hat and black sneakers.

Town Police continued to comb the area for evidence Thursday night with the assistance of an aviation unit and K-9 teams.

Officers from the Essex and Washington County Sheriff’s Departments and New York State Police are also helping with the investigation.

The Ticonderoga Fire Department assisted with traffic control as roadblocks were set up on all roads leading into town.

Police said further details will be released as they become available.

They ask anyone with information about the robbery to immediately contact the department at 585-3456.

Rite Aid Corporation told police they are offering a $2,000 reward for details leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
