CP Rail wants DOT-111 cars gone, too

In a speech Feb. 18 to the Calgary Chamber of Commerce in the province of Alberta, Harrison said the issue comes down to cost, that it should be put aside and the old tank cars replaced.

“I don't want to get too technical, but the DOT-111s, they aren't the best tank cars that should be hauling these commodities," Harrison told that group.

"Most generally, nobody quibbles with that they're more dangerous; that they're not equipped to haul this commodity.

"So what should we do with them? Stop them tomorrow.

"Don't wait to study. We know the facts.”
