Clinton County drug offenders get prison, jail time

PLATTSBURGH — Several felony drug offenders were sentenced in Clinton County Court recently to prison or jail time for possessing such substances as methamphetamine precursors, prescription pain pills, morphine and heroin.

Vanessa L. Kriplin, 29, of Morrisonville pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, both felonies.

Kriplin, who also goes by the name Vanessa Robinson, was indicted on two felony drug charges on April 22, 2013, the same day State Police received a fraud complaint against her.

She had sold heroin in the City of Plattsburgh in November of 2012, police said.

She was working in the home of a local woman and allegedly changed seven checks the woman made out for $8 to $80 and cashed them, police said.

Judge Kevin Ryan sentenced her to three years determinate on the drug charge with two years post-release supervision and one to three years on the forgery charge. Her sentences will be served consecutively.

Kriplin will pay $750 in mandatory surcharges, provide a DNA sample and pay the sample-collection fee.

In addition, an order of protection was issued, her license was suspended, and her right to an appeal was waived.

Kriplin is serving the sentence at Albion Correctional Facility in Albion, according to the online records of the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

SOLD MORPHINE, HEROIN

In a May 2013 drug sweep, Jerry L. Dapo of Peru was charged with drug sale and possession for selling heroin and morphine earlier that year.

Dapo, 37, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and was sentenced to five years prison determinate with two years of post-release supervision.

He must pay restitution to reimburse authorities for the money they used to buy the heroin from him as well as other surcharges.
