Olympic Biathlon races were postponed for a second time Monday due to fog covering the Laura Cross-Country Ski and Biathlon Center, prompting responses from local athletes tweeting back and forth.

From Lowell Bailey of Lake Placid: “Looks like the race is postponed until tomorrow...I guess you can see why!”

Bailey asked a fellow Olympian for some weather-control support: “Billy Demong can we borrow your wind shaman? I assume he could blow this fog (out) of here!”

From Billy Demong: “Can’t you guys use the force like we do in ski jumping?” ... “Of course my family shows up and the sunshine goes away for the first time.”

From biathlete Tim Burke of Paul Smiths: “Hurry up and wait. The race is again delayed because of fog. Back to bed for me!” ... “Time to refocus and prepare for an early start tomorrow. This will definitely be the earliest wake up in Sochi so far!”

Erin Hamlin, who is originally from Remsen but lives and trains in Lake Placid, took home a bronze in luge singles. She spoke over the weekend with Press-Republican sports writer Courtney Lewis.

From Erin Hamlin: “In training all week I was consistent. I knew I could gain a lot more time — I was holding back a little bit during the week. So I was excited to see how fast I could go, and I know if I had a good run, I could be up with the top sliders.
