Local man pleads not guilty to rapes

MALONE — A Village of Malone man pleaded not guilty to six counts of rape and six endangerment charges in Franklin County Court this week.

Christopher Joiner, 20, of Clay Street was indicted in two separate grand-jury proceedings.

One indictment was for three counts of second-degree rape and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, stemming from alleged incidents between October and November 2012 in Constable involving a 14-year-old girl.

The other indictment was for three counts of second-degree rape and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, stemming from alleged incidents between November and December in the Village of Malone involving a different 14-year-old girl.

Joiner pleaded not guilty before County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr. and was taken to County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 insurance bond.

He is due back in court on June 13.
