Peru School Board to meet Tuesday

PERU — The Peru Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the High School community room for its fourth public-session budget meeting.

The board is expected to receive an update on budgetary challenges, discuss proposed reductions, discuss tax-levy limit and the impact of pension exclusion and consider approval of a local retirement incentive.

The public is welcome.

Candidates sought for Chateaugay Central School

CHATEAUGAY — Chateaugay Central School District is seeking candidates to fill three seats, currently held by Scott Henderson, John McCormick and Susan Jones-King, on the seven-member School Board.

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, a resident of the district for at least a year prior to the May 21 election and a qualified voter of the district. They cannot be a school employee or live with a family member who is presently on the School Board.

Those seeking to run are required to submit a petition, signed by at least 25 qualified district voters, to District Clerk Mary Legacy by 5 p.m. Monday, April 22.

Petitions forms are available at her office at 42 River St., Chateaugay, which is open 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The School Board election and budget vote will take place from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in the Chateaugay Central School auditorium.

Plattsburgh School District voter registration set

PLATTSBURGH — The deadline to register to vote at the May 21 Plattsburgh City School District election is May 7; registration takes place at the Clinton County Board of Elections. 

In addition, the School District Board of Registrations is required to meet and prepare the register for the School District Register at the office of the Clinton County Board of Elections on the first floor of the Clinton County Government Center on Margaret Street, Plattsburgh. 

Registration will be held between 2 and 5 p.m. May 7 for any person who is not under permanent registration with the Board of Elections.
