Students: Aug. 6, 2013

Lynne-Marie Veverka, who will be a senior at Alfred University, Alfred, has been awarded the Junior Function Design Award. This award is presented to a ceramic or three-dimensional art student showing excellence in concept and execution in function and design. She is the daughter of Peter Veverka and Ann Wrafter of Schroon Lake and a graduate of Schroon Lake High School.

Kurt C. Reh, son of Jim and Linda Reh of Plattsburgh, graduated from St. Lawrence University, magna cum laude, with Bachelor of Science degrees in psychology and music. While at St. Lawrence, he was inducted into the Ives Music Honor Society, Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society and was a Daniel and Ann Sullivan University Fellow where he conducted research with Dr. Cheryl Stuntz on the topic, “Examining Musical Stereotypes: What Music Says About You.” He also participated in many musical ensembles and will attend Rutgers University School of Law in New Jersey on a full Dean’s Scholarship.

Matthew Terry, son of Buck and Bobbi Terry of Redford, has been named to the Dean’s List at LeMoyne College, Syracuse. He is a member of the Class of 2015, graduated from Saranac Central High School and is majoring in business and marketing.

The following area students were named to the Dean’s List at Paul Smith’s College, most being Adirondack Scholars with a GPA of 3.8 or better: Nicholas Desroches of Morrisonville, culinary arts and service management, an Adirondack Scholar; Jonathan Higgins of Champlain, surveying technology, an Adirondack Scholar; Hannah Huber of Champlain, biology, Adirondack Scholar; Michael Huyler of Ray Brook, surveying technology, Adirondack Scholar; Joshua Pierce of Elizabethtown, fisheries and wildlife sciences, Adirondack Scholar; Robert Williams of Saranac Lake, culinary arts, Adirondack Scholar; Cullen Zukas of Jay, natural resources management and policy, Adirondack Scholar and Rodolfo Antonino of Saranac Lake, culinary arts and service management; Naomi Berger of St. Regis Falls, natural resources sustainability; Jeffrey Bigelow of Willsboro, parks, recreation and facilities; Adam Bullis of Plattsburgh, forestry; Mark Calderone of Paul Smiths, natural resources management and policy and Sarah Desrosier of Paradox, environmental science.
