Honeybee Community Fund awards grants
WESTPOR -- The Honeybee Community Fund has awarded grants for its fall funding cycle.
Funds will go to: Andrea Arnold's From the Ground Up carpentry business, Keeseville Free Library, Dulac's Bookkeeping & Tax Preparation, Westport Fish and Game Club, Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks for ongoing concerts, Rick's Place for historic preservation in Willsboro, Friends of the Whallonsburg Grange seating project, Elizabethtown-Lewis Chamber of Commerce for Web site development and the Adirondack Nature Conservancy/Adirondack Land Trust's Coon Mountain Preserve.
The Honeybee Community Fund offers spring and fall rounds of grants, within Essex County only, of up to $1,500 to assist small businesses, farmers, not-for-profits, environmental projects, the arts and scholarships.

Brainardsville group collecting mittens
BRAINARDSVILLE -- The United Methodist Women of the Brainardsville United Methodist Church are sponsoring the annual Mitten Tree project.
Donations of hats, mittens, scarves, gloves or money are sought. The items must be new or handmade.
These items will be given to area children and adults. Money received will be used to supply extra hats, mittens, etc., and other necessary needs.
Food package available in Essex County
ELIZABETHTOWN -- The Extra Helpings Program has a food package and several special offers available for December.
The Extra Helpings food package, which costs $20, includes Bavarian holiday ham, chicken patties, hamburger, hot dogs, peeled butternut squash and baby carrots.
Three specials are available:
Special 1, $14.25: cranberry and apple-stuffed boneless pork loin roast.
Special 2, party package, $19: fully cooked meatballs, fully cooked barbecue-flavored chicken wings, sweet Italian sausage rope and cocktail franks.
Special 3 meat box, $30: apple-and-cranberry-stuffed pork chops, honey-mustard-flavored chicken breast, beef patties, maple breakfast sausage links and chicken patties.
Payment is due in cash by Dec. 6. There is no age or income limit to participate in the program.
Orders will be picked up Dec. 19 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish Hall, Williams Street, Elizabethtown.

Clinton County 4-H kids selling cheese as fundraiser
PLATTSBURGH -- Clinton County 4-Hers will be selling McCadam and Cabot cheese through Friday.
Many varieties will be available, including Adirondack Wicked Sharp, Extra Sharp and Sharp, Empire Monterey Jack, Muenster, Pepper Jack, Horseradish and a Cheddar Shake for popcorn.
Eight-ounce blocks of cheese are being sold for $3 each. Larger size blocks are available for some varieties.
All cheeses are made from milk produced by area dairy farmers. Proceeds support local 4-H programs, including youth participation in career-development trips across the state.
Contact a local club member or the Extension Office (ask37@cornell.edu or 561-7450) to buy the cheese.
Election reviews starting in Franklin County
MALONE -- Commissioners with the Franklin County Board of Elections begin the first of four reviews today to determine the official results and winners in the Nov. 6 general election.
Close races in four municipalities are in question.
Results will be reviewed as follows:
Today: Town of Waverly Town Council seat, 9 a.m.
Monday, Nov. 19: Harrietstown town-justice seat and Town Council seat, 1 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 20: Town of Malone Town Council seat and Village of Malone trustee seat, 9 a.m.; and Village of Tupper Lake mayor, 1 p.m.
Republican Commissioner Veronica King and Democratic Commissioner Kathy Fleury invite candidates and their party representatives to watch the proceedings in the ground-floor offices of the Board of Elections in the County Courthouse.
