Essex County local elections in six towns

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Although it's an off year for local elections, several unexpired terms for town offices will be on the November ballot in Essex County.
The general election is from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The towns with local general elections in Essex County are:
CHESTERFIELD
Town justice: Allan Hachigan (D-I); David Bashaw (R-I); and Steven Johnson (I).
NORTH ELBA
Town clerk (unexpired term): Laurie Curtis Dudley (R-I), incumbent.
NORTH HUDSON
Town Council (unexpired term): Laureen DeZalia (R-I).
Referendum: Shall North Hudson have one elected town justice instead of two elected town justices?
SCHROON
Town Council (unexpired term): Edmund Williford Sr. (D); and Edward Haroff (R).
WESTPORT
Town clerk/tax collector (unexpired term): Sheila Borden (R); Nancy Sherman (I). The current town clerk, Betty White, who was appointed to fill a vacancy, is not running for election.
Town Council (unexpired term): Russell Paquette (D-I); and George King (R).
WILMINGTON
Town justice: Lora Bushy (I); and William Monogue (I).
Referendum: Extend terms of office for town clerk, supervisor and highway superintendent from two years to four years. The change would take effect Jan. 1, 2010.
