The Legacy of the Lake and Its People. Clinton Community College, Route 9 South, Plattsburgh. Today is dedicated to "Legacy: 400 Years of History in the Northern Champlain Valley." 10 a.m. presentation by Clinton County Historian Anastasia Pratt on "Architecture in the Champlain Valley," followed by Kevin Dann with "Montreal to Manhattan Walk," Richard Frost on "Plattsburgh's First Century" and Rick Norcross and Bret Corbin on "Transportation on Lake Champlain." Closing ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., and the Concert on the Bluff finale will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the bluegrass trio Beartracks. Being held as part of the Quadricentennial Commemoration.

Mayor's Cup Splash Party. 6 p.m., Naked Turtle. Featuring music by Mango Jam, surprise celebrity appearance.

Whallonsburg Idol Contest dress rehearsal. 7 to 9 p.m., Whallonsburg Grange Hall, Route 22. Contestants will perform, solo singing with and without guitar, piano or CD. Also final auditions, all ages.

Plattsburgh Mayor's Cup Celebration. The Mayor's Cup Regatta, the largest sailboat race on Lake Champlain, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with three racing divisions and 11 sailing classes; Martin, Harding & Mazzoti, assisted by Sunrise Rotarians and Adirondack District Boy Scouts, will distribute free bicycle helmets at the new Dock Street Park, across from Naked Turtle, from 10 a.m. to noon. Sizes include toddler, child, youth and adult. Zip City will play from 6 to 8 p.m. and Lucid from 8:30 to 11 p.m. at the Plattsburgh Lions Club Bandshell behind the Macdonough Monument; fireworks at about 9:30 p.m. in downtown Plattsburgh. Events sponsored by the Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary Club, the City of Plattsburgh and the Valcour Sailing Club. Saranac Lake Village Farmers Market. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saranac Lake Riverside Park. Fresh, locally produced no-spray vegetables and herbs, artisan organic cheese from grass-fed cows, goat cheese, yogurt, soap, free-range chicken, duck, goose, and eggs, fresh-baked breads, pastries, ready-to-eat soups, snacks, beverages, maple syrup, artwork and crafts.

Seventh-annual Iron Workers Festival. Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, Hogansburg. Food booths, service displays, product demonstrations, craft sale, chicken barbecue, vendors. More than $6,200 in prize money will be awarded in several categories that test the active workers and retired iron workers' skills, including the column climb, the spud throw, knot tying, the bolt toss, rod tying and a rivet-toss exhibition. Glacial Landscapes: Remnants of the Ice Age. Narrative journey from the Adirondack Loj to Saranac Lake, stopping at several glacial landforms along the way. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., meet at the ADK Loj. Non-perishable food collection fundraiser. Plattsburgh State Upward Bound students will be collecting canned and non-perishable food items in the neighborhoods nearby the Plattsburgh State campus. The students will be wearing Upward Bound T-shirts to identify themselves. The food will be donated to the JCEO and Interfaith food shelves of Plattsburgh.

Mini Madness Girl Scout Day Camp. To be held for four days at Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309. You do not have to be a Girl Scout to attend. From the Center of the World: A Celebration of Lake Champlain. 11 a.m. Adirondack History Center Museum, Elizabethtown, part of the Bits and Pieces Festival. Actors portray 400 years of history with reflections on the quadricentennial. In collaboration with the Depot Theatre, Westport Central School, Westport Heritage Festival, focuses on seven pivotal moments in Lake Champlain history that have global significance. $10 general public, $5 for museum members, $2 for students.
