MALONE -- A new coordinator was named Thursday to take over duties at the Franklin County Public Transportation program.
Paul Duffee of Malone is expected to start the new job on July 21 at a salary of $35,969.
He replaces Robert Bayruns, who officially resigned July 2 after six months.
County Manager James Feely said Duffee has served in the Village of Malone Office of Community Development, was executive vice president of the Malone Economic Development Corp. and owns and operates Xin Dao Acupuncture.
He said Duffee's background in community development and the knowledge of the people helped by those programs "will serve him well."
Duffee also has experience writing grants and working on cost-allocation plans.
Also during its regular meeting Thursday, the Franklin County Legislature:
Set a public hearing on the proposed North Country Community College budget for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, in the fourth-floor legislative chambers in the County Courthouse.
Appointed in name only Legislator Earl Lavoie (D-Malone) as director of the Veterans Services Office.
