TICONDEROGA — Ticonderoga's main thoroughfare will be closed as the Ticonderoga Main Street Partnership holds its Downtown Streetfest in August.

The Streetfest celebration is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.

Montcalm Street Partnership Chair Susan Rathbun said street tables will be available for $10 each for individuals, vendors and crafters who want to set up sales sites. The fee will be waived for Montcalm Street businesses.

"Montcalm Street will be closed, from the corner near the Sunshine Laundry to the Glens Falls National Bank, to all but emergency vehicles, to allow shoppers to view and purchase displayed merchandise," Rathbun said.

"Many downtown restaurants have indicated an interest in participating, so food, snacks and beverages will also be part of the Streetfest offerings."

Rathbun said they hope this will be the beginning of a big annual event for Ticonderoga.

"Our goal right now for this event is to build interest and sign up vendors. We encourage our museums, other area attractions and community organizations to come in and set up sale tables, too."

She said they see the event as a smaller-scale Warrensburg yard sale.

"We're hoping this event will attract a wide variety of local and area vendors who sell everything from handcrafts to antiques to gently used items. We'd like to offer something for everyone, from children to the young at heart. We're working on making it a great time, with lots of interesting things to see, buy and taste."

Streetfest has a rain date of Saturday, Aug. 22.
